CONNECT &
METROPOLITAN
:
WORKING TOGETHER TO DELIVER FUTURE-PROOF INFRASTRUCTURE
The
addition of Metropolitan is without doubt another string to the
Inexus bow. Connect will continue to deliver our traditional
infrastructure such as gas, water and electric, while Metropolitan
will allow developers to 'plug into' ready-made solutions that meet
Code 4 and above of the Code for Sustainable Homes. On top of this
the unit cost to build out in this method is considerably less than
other alternatives thanks to the use of improved materials and
avoiding the use of statutory connections.
Sustain have
independently reviewed the offering from Metropolitan using the BREEAM assessment
method.
They found that:
-
The
Metropolitan solution immediately delivers Code 4 (Code for
Sustainable Homes) enabling developers to build to part L of the
Building Regulations
-
Even more impressively the solution can deliver the
Code 6 requirements if flexed, through the pragmatic use of
micro-technologies such as photovoltaics and solar power, all
together creating a 70% reduction in
carbon
-
The
Code 4 requirements come into force for social housing
on the 1st April 2010, meaning that new sites may be reviewed using
these parameters now
-
The Code 6 requirements come into force in
2016
-
The basis for the Metropolitan offering is that the
developer will build as normal and 'plug in' to Code 4 using the
district heating, water and fibre offerings
